What exactly does "dog breed" mean?

A dog breed is a specific and distinguishable breed of domestic dog. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) currently lists and recognises approximately 370 different dog breeds. The cynological umbrella organisation assigns the dog breeds to different groups and sections based on appearance and temperament. There are 10 FCI groups, including FCI Group 1: Herding Dogs & Cattle Dogs or FCI Group 3: Terriers. Which dog breed suits me? Which dog suits me?

This is the all-important question when buying a dog. It does not always have to be a purebred animal, because even in the case of mixed breeds from the animal shelter, the various breed combinations give us information about whether the dog will grow very large, for example, or possibly has a hunting instinct. History and origin: Where does the popular French Bulldog come from?

The French Bulldog was not always as cuddly and friendly as it is today. Originally, the bulldog came from England and was bred there as a bull-biter for dog fights. Small bulldogs were also used by the nobility as rat catchers. These small bulldogs were especially popular with upright ears and were further bred by English immigrants in France shortly before the turn of the century. During breeding, other breeds were crossed in, including the Pug, and this is how the French Bulldog as we know it today came about. They became so popular that even the English King Edward VII got himself a French Bulldog.

Important: We would like to point out that French Bulldogs are subject to torture breeding and suffer from brachycephaly (short-headedness) and they usually have trouble breathing.

Character and nature of the French Bulldog:

The French Bulldog with its wrinkled face and bat ears is headstrong, a little lively and very good-natured. It is particularly characterised by its cheerful, loyal and attentive nature. Therefore, the French Bulldog cuddles to her heart's content and is also particularly suitable for beginners and families due to her uncomplicated, playful nature.

Training-French Bulldog

French Bulldogs are usually easy to train because of their curious nature, but they can also show their stubborn side. Especially in puppyhood, the little four-legged friends often have a short attention span and therefore need frequent breaks. With age, however, this subsides and the French Bulldogs become concentrated learners. Tricks and commands should therefore be trained for life and/ or due to their short snout and small legs, French Bulldogs do not need a great deal of exercise. It is enough for them to be mentally exercised by small games during normal walks.

Attitude of the small bulldog:

The French Bulldog does not like to be alone. The "Bully" likes to be the centre of attention and therefore wants all the more attention from his humans. Cuddling and sleeping close to his humans please him very much. That's why French Bulldogs don't like to be left alone for long periods at home in the flat or in the house.
